Vote for Action
You need someone with not just the will to change but the plan and the know-how to take action.
Growing up in Nerang, and raising my daughter Kiara for the most part as a single mum, I’ve experienced the issues that residents raise with me first hand. That’s why I’m standing for Council, to see that our community gets the outcomes we deserve.
This is the introduction to my plan for less crime, better roads, a revitalisation for Nerang, a dedicated youth centre and the restoration of the Maid of Sker.
Of course this is just the start and I would love to hear from you about these and other issues that are important locally.
REDUCE CRIME AND KEEP BIKIES OUT FOR GOOD
Community safety should always be a priority. I’ll work with all levels of government to ensure we stay tough on bikies – so we never see them back in Nerang. I’ve also joined the fight to make the Pacific Pines Police Beat open 7 days a week. My plan also involves more lighting and CCTV in our public spaces.
LESS TRAFFIC JAMS, MORE REAL ACTION ON ROADS
Local residents and business owners have every right to be frustrated about being stuck in traffic. As our area expands so too should our road network. We need more slip lanes and left turn on red signals to help our busy intersections cope, particularly in peak periods like the school drop off and pick up.
REVITALISE NERANG’S RESTAURANT PRECINCT
The last few years has seen a surge in new local cafés and restaurants. A revitalised evening precinct would mean locals don’t need to head to Broadbeach or Surfers Paradise but instead could stay, enjoy and support our local small businesses – in turn providing for more local jobs.
A DEDICATED YOUTH CENTRE. KIDS OFF THE STREET
We need a youth centre in our area, somewhere where young teens and young adults can seek the help they need, when they need it. A dedicated youth centre will also help our community by taking kids off our streets and parks in the evenings, as they would have their own recreational space.
PROTECT OUR HISTORY BY RESTORING THE MAID OF SKER
Local history is vitally important and should be preserved and celebrated. The Maid of Sker embodies the spirit of our area. The work ethic shown by the many crew members of the Sker as it travelled up the Nerang River is still demonstrated by our hard working local business men and woman today.
